Linda Ekins

Contemporary Artist

I’m a contemporary abstract artist, inspired by atmospheric spaces, drama in nature and stories in faces. I work mostly in acrylics and watercolours, capturing the moment and expressing what I see and feel. I see the beauty of a bleak landscape, the calm of quiet space and the joy of vibrant colours excite me.

I'm a storyteller.

All my art tells a story. It may invite you in, suggest a journey or a discovery. It acknowledges who recognise being there, feeling the same emotion.

I studied Fine Art in Liverpool and then Ceramics as part of my Education Degree. Once I started teaching in a Primary school, I focussed on developing Education practice and had to put aside my brushes. Further studies in Drama in Education helped me develop the method of working in a collegiate way, to engage students.

As a freelance Drama tutor and Theatre Director, I gained much experience in designing stage sets, costumes and lighting. Much of my work was about setting the scene to enable me to develop confidence, empathy and resilience in my students.

The journey I am making now, is enabling me to refine and develop my art practice. It is important that my work connects and brings a different perspective and essentially, gives people joy, peace and inspiration.
